Joshua Hollingshead, MD

Joshua Hollingshead, MD, is a general surgeon with UnityPoint Clinic General Surgery - Sioux City. He has broad training in general surgery and provides surgical care for a variety of conditions.

Dr. Hollingshead believes trust and open communication are essential to the patient-surgeon relationship. He takes time to listen to patients’ concerns, explain their conditions and discuss available treatment options. He works with each patient to determine the best approach that fits their individual needs, helping them feel informed and supported throughout their care.

Dr. Hollingshead understands that surgery can bring uncertainty and fear. He strives to provide compassionate, empathetic care and build relationships where patients feel comfortable asking questions and sharing concerns. He finds it especially rewarding to help patients through treatment and support them throughout their recovery.

Dr. Hollingshead earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine, completed his surgery residency at the University of Kansas in Wichita and earned a Master of Science in anatomy from Saint Louis University. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery.

Outside of work, Dr. Hollingshead enjoys watching basketball, reading, watching movies and documentaries and attending stand-up comedy shows.
