Professional Statement
Professional Statement:
I'm a licensed physical therapist assistant with over two decades of experience helping patients regain strength, mobility, and confidence after life-changing neurological events. I earned my Associate of Applied Science degree in Physical Therapist Assisting from Kirkwood Community College in 1999 and have been proud to be part of the UnityPoint Health - St. Luke's Hospital team ever since. Most of my work has been in the Outpatient Neuro Physical Medicine Rehabilitation Department, where I collaborate closely with an amazing team of occupational and speech therapists. Together, we take a team-based approach to meet the unique needs of each patient—whether they’re recovering from a stroke, spinal cord injury, or managing a progressive condition like Parkinson’s Disease.
Why did you become a physical therapy assistant?
I had physical therapy when I was in grade school. I was gait training down a flight of steps with crutches. One crutch slipped off the step, and my physical therapist saved me. Thought they had the coolest job!
What is the most important thing for people to know about you and your practice?
Our team members average 20 years of experience! We are a great group that enjoy working with each other.
