Professional Statement
Why did you become a physician/provider? I previously worked on an inpatient behavioral health unit for multiple years, where I gained experience working with children and adolescents, adults and older adults. I thoroughly enjoyed my time helping patients and improving patient outcomes. Becoming a nurse practitioner allows me to play a more crucial role in furthering mental health access.
What qualities best describe the care you provide to your patients? I am personable, relatable, empathetic, emotionally supportive and detail-oriented. I am patients' biggest advocate. I will work with you to develop a treatment plan to help you achieve your healthcare goals.
Being a mental healthcare provider, what drives/motivates you each day? I am passionate about ending the stigma related to mental health and improving the lives of others. There is a great injustice in the mental health system - limited access to adequate and patient-centered healthcare.
What is the most important message you would like to share with your patients? I will be your biggest advocate, and I will always be in your corner. You are the most important aspect of your healthcare journey, and we will work together as a team to reach your goals.
What would you like your patients to know about you? My goal for my patients is to develop a holistic approach to their individual concerns regarding their mental health. This is a safe, judgement-free zone.
Are there any fun facts that you would like the community to know about you? I have worked in the mental health field serving patients at UnityPoint Health since 2015! I also have 8 fruit trees, including apples, peaches, pears and cherries!
Clinical Interests: Adults, Children, Psychosis, Anxiety and Mood Disorders
Personal Interests: I enjoy gardening, kayaking and spending time with my two labs - Lena and Locklan.
